One-day international, Centurion:
South Africa 392-6 (50 ovs) bt Pakistan 228 (46.4 ovs)
Here are the Live Scores.
South Africa completed an emphatic 164-run victory in the opening one-day international against Pakistan.
Skipper Graeme Smith hit six fours off Rana Naved-ul-Hasan in an over costing 27 runs and raced to 72 off 47 balls.
Jacques Kallis (88) hit three sixes in an over from Naved, who conceded 92 from eight overs, and shared 128 in only 10.2 overs with Mark Boucher (78).
In reply to a formidable 392-6 Pakistan were reduced to 125-9 inside 20 overs, and only Shoaib Malik passed fifty.
Five Pakistan batsmen hit sixes, but only number 10 Mohammad Sami offered genuine support to Malik, although the ninth wicket stand of 73 was by then largely academic.
The top seven all reached double figures, but only the prolific Mohammad Yousuf threatened a major score, with three fours and a six in one over from Kallis during his 39 from 25 balls.
However, advancing down the wicket to Andre Nel he mis-timed a drive, lost control of the bat and spooned a catch to Smith.
Sami hit spinner Robin Peterson deep into the crowd at square-leg but top-edged a catch in the same over.
Malik launched Justin Kemp for a six and four in successive deliveries and was left stranded on 52 when last man Mohammad Asif sliced Smith to signal the end of the match in the 47th over.
Kallis avenged his brutal treatment from Yousuf by finishing as the most successful bowler with figures of 3-34.
That featured two wickets in an over, and included Sussex seamer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, who had a miserable match.
Naved, who took 35 Championship wickets before injury curtailed his English county season in 2006, shared the new ball with Mohammad Asif after Pakistan chose to field first, but saw his first two deliveries hit to the boundary by Smith.
Smith and AB de Villiers blasted 140 from the opening 18 overs before the captain was deceived by a flatter delivery.
Loots Bosman hit his second ball for four but next up got a thin edge off the back foot.
De Villiers launched Hafeez into the stands at mid-wicket but was caught attempting to repeat the shot off Shahid Afridi.
Kallis and Ashwell Prince began rebuilding the innings patiently, the all-rounder waiting until his 50th delivery before striking his first boundary.
When Prince departed, Boucher quickly accelerated the scoring, pummelling Hafeez with a blistering run of six, six, four, four.
Asif did not escape the punishment, smashed for three fours and two sixes in the 47th over.
The beleagured Naved was handed the final over and removed Justin Kemp with the first ball, but there was still time for Kallis to hit the 10th six of the innings.
