Langer will captain Somerset for the 2007 season |
Langer retired from Test cricket after this winter's Ashes series win.
"I'm committed to going to Somerset for six months so I'll probably get a good idea then if I want to keep playing or not," the 36-year-old said.
He is also keen to see who replaces Wayne Clark as his state coach at Western Australia before deciding.
Langer scored 303 runs in nine innings at an average of 43.28 in the 5-0 Ashes demolition last winter.
He played two Championship matches for Somerset last season, scoring a club record 342 against Surrey at Guildford.
The obdurate left-hander has been in good form this year for Western Australia, making 109 and 99 in the recent win over Victoria.
"That match is probably as well as I've batted for a few years. The results are there, I'm enjoying it."
