McMillan, Fulton available for NZ

New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan has been passed fit for their World Cup opener against England on Friday, despite injuring his toe in practice.

He was hit by a yorker from fast bowler Shane Bond on Wednesday and an X-ray revealed severe bruising.

Batsman Peter Fulton, who broke a finger in last week's warm-up win over Sri Lanka, is also available.

Jacob Oram is fit to play, despite a broken finger, but the Kiwis will be without seamer Mark Gillespie (virus).

"Craig McMillan showed little discomfort when batting, bowling and fielding at the team's practice on Thursday morning," said a team spokesman.

"Peter Fulton also negotiated practice with little discomfort. Only Mark Gillespie has been ruled out with his injured shoulder."

The 30-year-old McMillan is akey player for the Black Caps having scored 4,479 runs and taken 46 wickets in 187 one-day internationals.

He hit form during the recent Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia, scoring 117 in the final game in Hamilton and 52 in the second game in Auckland.
