New Zealand are determined not to get carried away by their progress to the Super 8s and are targeting victory over Canada in their final group match.

Tuesday's win over Kenya saw the Black Caps ensure their progress from Group C and, with Canada unable to qualify, Friday's game represents a dead rubber.

"We must keep our eye on the ball," said Kiwi captain Stephen Fleming.

After two losses in two matches at this World Cup, the game will be Andy Pick's last as Canada coach.

The 43-year-old Englishman's contract expires after the World Cup and negotiations to extend it have fallen through.

"We've had one bad game and one good game and it would be nice to finish on another good game," said Pick, who will return to his old job as England under-19 coach next month.

"There are a lot of areas where we could easily find another 10 or 20% if we get it right.

"But we must also keep the same levels in the areas in which we did well - the middle order batting, the fielding and the way the spinners bowled in the middle."

The match could also be a farewell for some older members of Canada's playing squad such as 40-year-olds George Codrington, Anderson Cummins and 38-year-old Sunil Dhaniram.

New Zealand, who beat Canada in their only previous one-day meeting, look certain to take the opportunity to shuffle their side and rest some of their key players.

Shane Bond will be rested, along with batsman Ross Taylor, who suffered a hamstring strain against Kenya but opener Lou Vincent will continue as the Black Caps look to get him back into some form after two ducks in two games.

"He's ok," said Fleming, "he's just nicked a couple of outswingers which can happen with the new ball."

Coach John Bracewell, meanwhile, has urged his side to be "uncompromising" in the way they go about things on the field.

"You need to get a roll on in terms of results," he said.
