Ireland captain Trent Johnston was "very proud" of his side, despite their seven-wicket defeat by South Africa in a rain-affected game in Guyana.
"The guys put their bodies on the line in the field," Johnston said.
"We learnt from the first game against England as there weren't too many twos hit to us on the boundary.
"It was difficult for Eoin Morgan and Will Porterfield with the interruptions but we'll try to turn it around when we play New Zealand in a week's time."
Johnston who took a fine return catch to dismiss opposite number Graeme Smith, added: "The toss was crucial. They got us pinned back in the early stages and it is always difficult against bowlers of that class.
"Still, 150 was a reasonable total and we stuck out there until the 32nd over. I'm really proud of the guys."
"We hung in there and fought to the end. We cut down on the boundaries and now we are looking forward to playing New Zealand next Monday."
Ireland are second bottom of the Super 8 table, courtesy of a superior run-rate to Bangladesh, with no points from three matches.
