FAISALABAD: Pakistan defeated West Indies by two wickets Thursday in second one-day international at Iqbal Stadium.
Earlier, West Indies was all out for 151 runs in 49.5 overs. Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq had won the toss and sent the West Indies in to bat in the morning.
The visitors lost both openers at total of two runs as debutant Simmons and Chris Gayle returned to pavilion on ducks.
The Caribbean batsmen failed to build a good partnership by losing wickets frequently. The West Indies was all out for 151 runs in 49.5 overs.
Brian Lara and Runako Morton with 37 and 43 runs knocks were two major contributors of the West Indies innings.
Pakistan’s Abdul Rehman, Umar Gul and Rana Naved grabbed two wickets each, while Rao Iftikhar took one wicket.
When pakistan came on to bat,it was thought that it is going to be a straightforward chase for Pakistan but W-Indies bowlers gathered quite well to come back and gave pakistan a real tough time.And,at one time Pakistan was 118/6 but a splendid innings by big man Inzimam lead Pakistan to Victory.He Finished off in his style for a four on the bowl of Jerome Taylor with 10 balls and 2 Wickets remaining.
Pakistan leads the series 1-0 after the first match in the five-match limited-overs series was washed out at Rawalpindi.
Scores: West Indies 151 all out in 49.5 overs, Pakistan 154-8 in 48.2 overs.
