Pakistan beat NZ, set three new records in blind cricket cup
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan blind cricket team set three new world records on Friday while playing against New Zealand.
Pakistan won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first in a match of the third blind cricket world cup here at F-9 Park.
Pakistani bowlers displayed impressive performance as New Zealand batting crumbled at 21 runs in 12.3 overs. It is minimum score of a team in a world cup.
Previous minimum runs record in a world cup match was set in 1998 when Sri Lankan team was collapsed on 87 runs total.
Amir Ashfaq captured five wickets for four runs, setting another world record. Pakistan’s Shahbaz and Indians Rajindra Verma and Balaji Demor earlier shared the world cup record of maximum wickets jointly with three scalps each.
Abdul Razzaq captured four New Zealand wickets in the match.
Pakistan chased the target in record 1.1 overs. Mohammed Fayyaz made 11, while Muzaffar Ahmed scored eight runs.
Pakistan team is defending its title in the tournament.
