Britain is on high alert after two car bombs were thwarted in London on Friday and a burning jeep rammed into the Glasgow airport terminal on Saturday.

But Pakistan Cricket Board official Zakir Khan said: "We are playing - no doubt about it."

But the teams may yet be thwarted by persistent rain in Scotland.

The match at Titwood Cricket Ground was organised to mark the 60th anniversary of the independence of India and Pakistan.

And Khan insists the security alert will not keep spectators away from the match.

"A match against India of any nature is always keenly anticipated and we are expecting a big crowd in for the match despite the security alert in Glasgow."

Secretary of the Indian cricket board, Niranjan Shah, backed Pakistan's view.

"Security is the responsibility of the home board and I'm sure they will take the necessary steps to ensure the safety. The match will go on without any problem," he said.

"The police have been involved for five months in terms of planning the event. Everyone wants the event to go ahead smoothly and I'm sure we can control every situation, apart from the weather," Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith commented.

"We are just hoping that there is not enough rain over the next 12-14 hours to get the ground any wetter because it has rained so much over the last six weeks in Scotland

"For the last four or five days it has rained every day so although we are remaining hopeful of getting play, the ground can't take a lot more rain."

The teams were unable to practice at the ground on Monday because the outfield was saturated and more rain is forecast in the area.
