The journey is Over for SL!

First of all my Congratulations to SA and comiserations to SL team and fans.I think Srilankan bowling did pretty well specially Chaminda Vaas was excellent.he gave just 16 runs for his 10 overs taking 3 crucial wickets. At one stage SA was 30/3 but then aftarwards Kallis and AB deVilliers performed well and they took the score up to 110. At the score of 110,Kallis got victim of jayasuriya. The rest of SA batsmen performed average and steadily took there team to a fighting total of 219/9 in 50 overs.AB deVilliers was the highest scorer scoring 54 valuable runs.
Srilanka batting in reply, gave poor performance and was bolwed out at just 141 runs in just 39.1 overs .Ntini,Pollock and Nel really tighen up the things.they took 2,2 and 3 wickets respectively.Pollock remained the most economical bowler. He gave 21 runs for his wonderfull 10 overs.Shaun Pollock was also awarded Man of the Match award for his match winning performance. The match ended up with SouthAfrian victory by 78 runs.
The Srilankan Journey for the race of semifinals is over and they are out of the tournament.here are some important match notes:

PackUp England!

England at the start were looking very good,83/0,i thought they were going to have a big total this time, but guess what?the whole team was bowled out at 169.Great performance by Aussie bowlers. No English batsmen except Bell and Strauss tried to stay on the wicket.
Damien Martyn, 35 years old today, finds something amusing about a dropped sitter at mid-off, Australia v England, 6th match, Champions Trophy, Jaipur, October 21, 2006Another amazing thing in the match was a sitter that was dropped by Damien martyn at midoff. He finds something amusing after dropping a loly!
Aussies in reply were 33/3 at the moment but a wonderfull fifty by Damien marty and responsibe batting my Hussey lead them towards a comfortable win.Marty got a victim of Harmisson after scoring 72.Hussey remained not out at 32,and A symonds at 8.Australia reached the target in 36.5 overs winning the match comfortable by 6 wickets with 79 balls remaining.

Srilanka-The Winner

Andrew Flintoff and Ricky Ponting at the toss, Australia v England, 6th match, Champions Trophy, Jaipur, October 21, 2006
Srilanka Won the match played yesterday against Newzealand. As i said in the last post, the pitch really had nothing bad for the batsmen but the brialliant bowling by Srilanka contained Kiwiz to 165.Newzealand won the toss and decided to bat first, and were bowled out at 165 runs.Muralitharan,as expected was the key player behind this performance. He got 4 wickets giving 22 runs in 10 overs. Srilanka,In reply, played very well and chased that target with the loss od only 3 wickets winning the match by 7 wickets. The situation in Group:B is very dramatic now and i think the selection of two semi-finalist teams is going to be very very tough. We are having a match from group:A between Australia Vs England. The match is evenly important for both the countries as they already have lost there first match to WestIndies and Insia respectively.Any team loosing this match will have there tickets booked before his last match. Australia Won the toss deciding to field first.England in turn are going good and the situation at the moment is
  • 98/2
  • Overs:22
  • Andrew Strauss:37*
  • Andrew Flintoff:2*
  • Run rate:4.5/Over

Newzealand Vs Srilanka!

We are going to have another killer match from group B today which is between Srilanka and Newzealand. If we take a look of the recent matches between these 2 teams than we can consider Kiwiz the favourites, but i m sure that srilankan's after loosing to pakistan will try there best to win this match.I m quite sure that this is going to be a killer contest and both the teams have the capability to win it.I think Stephen Fleming will be srilanka's top priority and if they could get him out early than i think srilanka has to better chance to win the game.
In the last 10 matches between Srilanka and Newzealand:
  • 6 are Won by Newzealand
  • 4 are won by Srilanka.
The match is going to be played in Mumbai where the weather is quite and we hope to see a big scoring match.
Best of Luck to both the Teams!

ICC Champions Trophy!

The Cricket Fever is at its peak now a days.
The ICC Champions trophy is being played between the eight top ranked teams around the globe. The teams are divided into two groups A and B.
Following teams are played in the A group:
1.India
2.West Indies
3.Australia
4.England.
Following teams are placed in the B group:
1.Pakistan
2.Newzealand
3.Srilanka
4.South Africa
India and Newzealand are at the top of there respective groups.
An important Group A match was played at mumbai between the world champions and the West Indies.West Indies won the toss and decided to play first. They lost there first four wickers quite early, but due to the good performance by the middle order they were able to reach at 234 in 50 overs.
Australia in reply, faced many problems but the match looked evely poised even at 46th over, but then the wonderfull bowling by bravo and an excellent hat-trick by taylor outclassed Australia leaving West Indies Win by 10 runs.WI looked very very happy with this win and it will work as a moral booster for sure.
Best of Luck to WestIndies!
